Winter School Comes to Life

This year's July Young Leaders programs were a success, with more than 150 students attending the four programs.

The students studied jazz with the Juilliard Faculty from New York, learnt about the world of media, psychology and law, and identified key social justice issues with the help of guest speakers including Debbie Mortimer SC.

Our programs attracted students from Vietnam, The USA, New Zealand, Indonesia, Macau, India, China, The UAE, Thailand and Australia.

The jazz students thoroughly enjoyed learning from the Juilliard Faculty:

'This is my third year in the program and each year is a new experience so I learn new, diverse things… this year I came to understand the value and joy of interacting with your band-mates…(and) speaking to one another through our musical dialect.' Joel Trigg

'Brilliant and completely life-changing.' David Goodwin

'I have had an incredible time. It has been such a privilege to spend a week with so many musicians who are so passionate about jazz and the sharing of music. If I have the opportunity to return, I would not hesitate. Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible.' Alita Mellups-Smith

Our Winter School students also gave positive feedback:

'Fantastic! I’ve gained so much awareness and knowledge of issues facing today’s society and have got a great feel for college life.' Will Winter Cooke

'It was great to be here for a week. Apart from knowing more about the social issues around the world, I also learnt about independence… moreover, I met a lot of friends from different parts of the world here.' Vanessa

'It was a really exciting week. I will miss ¹ú²úBT as a family. I had a lot of fun!' Banin
